All about ” BELLY DANCING IN STONE TOWN “

On a normal day the stone town streets are full with busy shopping talking woman in black coat the traditional dress even many with burkha.  Walking near the old fort a big banner took my attention ” BELLY DANCING IN STONE TOWN ” came strange in my eyes in a black coat culture, a closer look on a poster told me that 14 yes 14 belly dancers from all over the world would give a performance in the open air theater in the old ford next Saturday. Well as you know from our newsletter we have on Saturday avenging a presentation in Sarena inn hotel so until ten o clock no belly dancing for me. On the performances saterday evening we entered the very full theater in the old ford even before ten. The first row full with the important people who payed the high fair, among them the minister of culture, who seem to have a nice time. The evening was a Fundraiser for problem family’s or children without parents so a good reason to be there. We found a nice spot and with the camera on my one leg tripod I did not have to use a flash and the 2.8 300 mm nikon lens did good work. We lost 11 performances but as we know ” best comes last ” so I put my work in this newsletter post. After the most famous tarab singer in town performed the song’s where my wife and others bottom shaking in beautiful dress hair from the salon in a tarab walk the singer here money. Yes her money, as you know in tarab culture, you can if you like the lyrics from the song,  buy them by put your money on the forehead of the singer. Or in a bucket with nice paper wrap beside the performing artist. With a big smile on her face we went home what did you buy I asked her because my kswahili is still very bad no answer, there are things you are probably not suppose to know.

All about ” TBE candlelight presentation at the stone town’s Serena Inn “

On saturday evening this season the famous serena inn hotel in stone town treat their guest on a special candle light dinner with live music chefs who prepare the food you want on original Zanzibari way with local charcoal cookers on the music waving chefs prepare your dish. And also we give this season in moon and candle light every saturday a presentation of our stone town street photography. You can find Serena Inn here

Well as I wrote in my testimonial in the Photocrati site I am not a web designer no knowledge of programme talk but I had ideas many know what I wanted. Miss gooogle became my date for some days and well the resold is there. Yes there is a proud feeling about the result and we are honored to be on the show page by Photocrati they represent an important group of photographers in USA and now also one in africa.

As we all know Facebook becomes the new big social media event  we also create a personal Facebook using it for the beautiful eyes, that did not work well, many personal story’s from all kind, birthdays, love massages and so on. Facebook launch now the possibility to create a company page so we did, we would appreciate you follow us. That way you get all nice info: photography  of stone town, food, music, coffee talk on your own wall. Hope we meet you there and if, please share our facebook page. 

All about ” TBE new projects “

It’s almost July so the holiday season in Stone Town is here, all hotels, tourist shops,  did or still do maintenance the rain is almost gone. The big rains from the last months have given me the opportunity to sit and listening to the drops falling on the leafs of the trees. In the stillness of those moments, is meditation a higher form of being. I was lucky, the rain brought many of those moments, meditation bring me in a deep inner existence and in a creative atmosphere, as beautiful butterfly to new projects came to sit in my head. We are going to do very nice new things for sure with photography, but before we announce the new product we want to be absolutely certain that we think of everything and it will have the quality of THE  BEAUTIFUL  EYES  product. We will visit our copyright lawyers first, there people who try to copy us well that’s not nice especially when the quality is bad we want to protect the niche we are in this moment in Zanzibar. But for now some small hints, there will be workshops in other parts of Africa, and there will be classes with other world-famous photographers from USA and Europe, there will be soon more….  If you like our facebook page you only keep an eye on your facebook wall to know all about it.

All about ” TBE and reservations photowalks “

In the upcoming season first of July 2011 until february 2012 we will do the photowalk® on Wednesdays and Fridays we start at 15.00 in the gallery for now still in hurumzi 223. As you know we walk with a small number of people, if you want to be sure make a reservation in the gallery. We are going to work with some hotels in unguja they can do the booking for you, you must understand when a booking is done the payment most follow even when you do not want to walk anymore. For the other workshops the reservation must be done in the gallery. As you know we want to keep the quality high the one to one as much as possible so we walk zakia and me with only four participants two times a week. Make your reservation here occur disappointment, we hope to meet you. See here photographs of some participants not everybody upload there work yet . 

All about ” TBE hotspots “

Walking in stone town performing ” street photography ” you meet people and see the town changing there is activity small mostly empty store’s or even houses become nice shops or small restaurants even a new bookstore. We decided  where we like to go and drink or eat even have our cappuccino in the morning or visit the poetry evening in the new bookstore, we bring one of our picture’s for display and we exchange ” links “.  If you have a friend or even yourself come to zanzibar again you have to explore some nice spots. You will find them in the  TBE blog, on TBE facebook and in this TBE newsletter. In facebook your wall you will find our new discovery first. Well here we start.

LAZULI

Daughter Suhayla was the model for this picture and she like her yoghurt. The food is delicious and freshly prepared, the staff are very friendly and genuine pleased to serve you. The best thing, however, has to be the fresh fruit juices which are more akin to a smoothie and cost barely anything. You can choose to have a mix of fruits or just one and they are completely delicious. For me the very nice cold spice coffee becomes an almost daily pleasure. You find lazuli halfway on kenyata road.

A NOVEL IDEA  

A small bookshop near 236 hurumzi hotel full with books to take home or  read at the pool on your beach chair near your glass of …..  or on the beach under a coconut tree.If you spent time in the bookshop there is a lot to choose from. One a month they organise a poetry avenging more about that here.   We like it.

All about ” TBE street photography “

Every newsletter we will talk something about photography today ” streetphotography ” on the different blog’s and forum’s websites even mine there is a lot of words to read about a new camera the FujiFuilm X100. A new design or a retro look you name it, but whats important the differences more manual settings and only one lens and after correction of the  chip size 35mm. That means a little wide-angle so you most go close if you want to make a portrait and see some of the townscape around it.  A nice blog about street photography and the fuji you find here . The blogger write about his fear to approve people walking on the same street and with your 35mm street photography lens you most come close, it’s also the most comment we get from our PHOTOWALK participants “I am shy so can you help me” and we do, after three hours or even better a next workshop the other day the resold are showing on the back of there camera’s big or small does not matter and the joy is there more than ever see on the stonework photowalkblog in our website or here.  I think that the new generation of small cameras entering the market now, lumix sony olumpus fuji will increase to take the camera in the daily travel and we all perform streetphotography with much creativity. If you are interested to know more about the new fuji see here.  We wait to buy until fuji do their home work better and finish with new firmware ( software in the camera ) the path they started so good, for now the trend of small will bring very nice new models. It seems streetphotography is back started in paris in the fifty’s of the last century with small camera’s, leica’s, contax, zeiss and other german brands loaded with black and white film, the work showed in exhibitions and books from the early photographers is still a motivation for many see here.  

And as you know when you read my blog I’m waiting for my new ” love ” so no photography from me yet, but zakia went on the street to perform her talent see her work.
